Glass

Trend. Since the American Studio Glass movement of the 1960's, American glass working has flourished into a large and diverse movement using a dazzling array of traditional and modern approaches and techniques. American artists have brought forth some beautiful pieces from the intricate marbling techniques of Jody Fine to the magnificent colors and workmanship of Shiloh Hunkapiller’s perfume bottles to the layering with color and copper mesh of Mark Sigafoos.

Americans have responded by decorating both homes and offices with glass vases, bowls and sculptures, even sink bowls of glass. Glass as a decorating trend continues to grow. The trend is most pronounced on the West Coast, but all regions of the country are showing strong interest in decorating with the beauty and versatility of glass.

Similarly, jewelry made with handcrafted glass beads in a variety of shapes and colors has found a growing audience. See Lesley Janssen’s work for example.
