· Artist Brenda Griffith formed Siyeh Studio in 1987 and has since been producing an eclectic mix of glass home furnishings and glass art. Functional offerings of sinks, backsplashes, tiles, lighting fixtures, fountains, vessels compliment her
one-of-a-kind sculptures, boxes, and window and wall panels. Her fused glass plates and bowls are beautiful and durable, as well as both food and dishwasher safe. Brenda has been making fused glass art for most of her life, and her glass pieces display vivid colors and unrivaled intricacy. Brenda creates her kiln formed fused glass art in her Austin, Texas based Siyeh Studio.
Inspired by the juxtaposition of lush and stark in the landscape and the colors of the mountains, forests and sky, Brenda began kiln forming glass in the mid 1980's in Missoula, Montana. Her Siyeh Studio is named for her favorite area in Glacier National Park, MT. Subsequent moves to Chicago, Austin, Texas, Atlanta, and back to Austin have only enriched her palette and emboldened her to experiment with color and size on a much grander scale.
She is a NICHE Award winner in the Fused Glass category and her work can be found in private collections and galleries throughout North America and Europe. Mrs. Griffith teaches, mentors and writes. Her first book A Beginner's Guide to Kiln Formed Glass was published in 2007 by Lark Craft Books. Her second book Kiln-Formed Glass: Beyond the Basics was published in July of 2014.
