· The Pomegranate Collection from Michael Michaud Jewelry. In Ancient Greek Mythology pomegranates played a role in the changing of seasons. Persephone, Daughter of Demeter (goddess of harvest) was kidnapped by Hades (god of the underworld). By the time Demeter found her daughter, Persephone had already eaten six pomegranate seeds from the underworld. Therefore, it was pronounced that, for six months of the year, Persephone must return to Hades in the underworld. When Persephone returns back to her mother, Demeter, Spring and Summer begin, and the earth can bloom once more. The Pomegranate collection features cast bronze with a soft patina that is finished in an antiqued gold. Pieces are accented with cast glass from Michael's son, Michael Vincent Michaud. The jewelry is handcrafted at the Michael Michaud Design studio in New York.
