· A frequent visitor to the Grand Bahama Islands, Michael found himself in the immediate aftermath of the 2016 storms that devastated the Islands. Having found so much inspiration over the years from the native forests, he was heartbroken to see the once lush landscape stripped bare. As he joined the relief effort for the island, he began to notice one tree that seemed to have survived the storm. The Lignum Vitae tree has the densest wood in the world, which earned it the name Wood of Life. This is Michel's tribute to the National tree of the Bahamas, with its purple flowers representing a beacon of hope. The Wood of Life collection by Michael Michaud Design is cast in bronze then hand-finished in a combination of green patina, matte gold, and antique copper. Select jewelry styles are accented with hand cast glass flowers and purple jade. Earrings feature Sterling Silver ear wire. The collection is handcrafted at the Michael Michaud Design studio in New York.
